私たちは2006年の創業以来、「過剰包装を控える」「簡易包装を実践する」ことを大切にして参りました。
日本人は１人あたり年間約9㎏のプラスティック包装ゴミを排出しています（環境省資料より）。また梱包材の多くがリサイクルされず焼却され、CO₂排出や地球温暖化の要因となっています。
ヴィリーナでは、靴やアクセサリーなど壊れやすい商品には段ボールを使用する場合もありますが、基本的にはリボンや装飾を省き、不織布で包むだけのシンプルな梱包を19年間続けて参りました。
こうした取り組みにより昨年だけでも7,130件の発送で、約235kgのCO₂を削減することができました。これはスギの木約17本が1年間で吸収する量に相当します。
またこの簡易包装の取り組みを19年間継続したことで、累計約4.5トンのCO₂削減につながりました。
なお世界の小包量は2020年の1310億個からわずか1年で21％増の1590億個に達し、これは1秒当たり5000個が出荷された計算です。（米郵便計器大手ピツニーボウズ調べ）。
小さな取り組みかもしれません。ですが、
「ゴミを減らす」「輸送エネルギーを減らす」ための工夫が、未来へつながると信じています。
派手なリボンよりも、シンプルな誠実さを届けたい。
環境にも人にもやさしいファッションの在り方を、これからも探し続けます。
Delivering beautiful clothing to a beautiful planet
Since our founding in 2006, VIRINA has prioritized minimal and eco-conscious packaging over excess.
In Japan, each person generates approximately 9 kilograms of plastic packaging waste annually (source: Ministry of the Environment).
Much of this waste is not recycled but incinerated, contributing to CO₂ emissions and global warming.
At VIRINA, while we may use cardboard boxes to protect fragile items such as shoes and accessories,
our standard approach has been to eliminate decorative packaging like ribbons or stickers, opting instead for a simple wrap using non-woven fabric.
Thanks to this effort, we were able to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 235 kilograms in the past year alone,
equivalent to the amount of CO₂ absorbed by about 17 Japanese cedar trees in a year.
Over the past 19 years, our ongoing commitment to simple packaging has led to a total reduction of approximately 4.5 metric tons of CO₂.
According to research by Pitney Bowes, global parcel volume grew from 131 billion in 2020 to 159 billion in 2021—a 21% increase.
That’s about 5,000 parcels shipped every second.
Our efforts may seem small.
But we truly believe that reducing waste and transportation-related emissions will help protect the future of our planet.
Rather than decorative ribbons, we choose to deliver honest simplicity.
